The Royal Ploughing Ceremony 2011

photo from Frizz
I posted a blog about the Royal Ploughing Ceremony previously - so have a look.

This year the two white sacred oxen ate the grass and drank the liquor - which means that the country expects plentiful food supplies and flourishing trade...

Surin Elephant Ordination Festival (15 - 17 May)

I saw this as an advert in the Bangkok Post - it looks interesting.  It features the ordination ceremony of the Thai Kui ethnic group.  There is a procession of Buddhist ordination candidates to their designated shrines - a marvelous display.
